Leuven is an important hub in the Belgian railway network. From Leuven station, there are connections to every other major Belgian train station. The train station is conveniently located at the edge of the city centre. Most university buildings in the city center are located at walking distance from the railway station (max. 2 km); almost all buses in and around Leuven stop at the railway station and pass through the city centre.

Leuven is situated on the important Ostend-Brussels-Leuven-Liège-Cologne axis and is located near the junction of two important motorways: E 40 and E 314. However, cars are not a convenient mode of transport in the centre of Leuven. Due to many one-way roads, driving is slow and difficult. Within Leuven, walking and cycling are the easiest, cheapest and most convenient ways to travel. Leuven and it’s suburbs are very accessible by bus. Our advice is to keep your car out of the city.
